Kayaker's...we are NOT!

Today Andreas and I went Sea Kayaking. Let's just say that we had fun, but we don't need to rush back to this beach activity any time soon. ;-)
For one, it was freezing....or should I say, I WAS FREEZING! Secondly, Andreas graciously voted for me to take the steering position in the back of the kayak...so that he could take all of the photos. Let me just tell ya, trying to paddle and steer at the same time...while your husband takes photos and enjoys the scenery could drive one to kill!
No, only joking. It was a nice time on the water. We saw some seals and had a great guide names Frances. Enjoy the photos.

Heading out to kayak...Cappuccino in hand!
He looks worried!

Split Apple Rock

This was the name on our lunch...non of these words have anything to do with Andreas or me but they insisted that this was ours.

Kayak Beach!

I grabbed the pretty red one, but it didn't seem to go as fast as the yellow ones. Andreas pointed out that this could be more user error than kayak error.

Andreas wasn't allowed to turn around to take photos or the kayak would have flipped over...so the little strands at the bottom of the screen are his hairs.

baby seal!

Still smiling...not too wet just yet!

Look at her...she looks like a pro!

Token Germans...we seem to have at least 1 on every excursion. ;-)

Our Guide, Frances

Medland Beach...where we docked the kayaks for lunch

I love the beach...the chilly ocean, not so much!

Hiking through the rain forest

We names this bird LexiHunterSav....it sat with us during lunch and kept giving us the 'feed me please' sad face!
Fun day! Now we are cleaning up and heading over to Kaikoura on the east coast. We have a 7am whale watching cruise that we are both so excited to see.
Tomorrow is our last full day in NZ! We will be sad to leave. The camper van has been good to us! We are starting to love it here!

  1. Looks like another awesome day! The "honey" phase may be coming to an end? Only kidding, I knew the stronger athlete would have to paddle the boat, right Shan?!!! I wonder if you two will be able to handle staying in a hotel ever again....you know those places with spas, that include massages, facials, etc!! Love the pics, keep them coming. We love and miss you so much.
    Love ya,
